- Shout out to everyone for all the sweet, thoughtful Teacher Appreciation gifts. I really appreciate it. The kind cards from the kids and all the gifts warm my heart. 🥰
What are we learning:
- Reading Unit - We've been reviewing comprehension skills for STAAR: poetry (figurative language), theme vs main idea, character development, and inferencing.
- Writing Unit - We wrapped up our writing about the Earth last week. This week our focus has been on writing in poetry (Cinquain and Limerick).
- Science Unit - We wrapped up our Plant and Animal Adaptations unit today with a unit test. Our last unit will start on Monday (Plant life cycles). We will take this test on May 19th.
- Math Unit - We will wrap up this unit on Measurement (elapsed time, capacity, weight, length) on Monday, May 9 with our last math test. Then, we'll do some math review for the last 2 couple of weeks!

- STAAR Testing Day Reminders: Students need a full 8 hours of sleep the night before. Please, provide a healthy breakfast to get them started off right in the morning. We begin the test promptly at 7:50am (be on time). Students will need a few non-messy snacks and a full water bottle. Some snack ideas are: goldfish crackers, pretzels, granola bars, fruit snacks, mini muffins, grapes, orange slices, carrot sticks, raisins, mini cookies, popcorn, apple slices.
- Open House (Spotlight Night) - Thursday, May 19 5:30 - 6:45pm
- This is a time for students to showcase all their amazing work they have done this year. Classrooms will be open for parents and family to attend. Teachers will be in classrooms to discuss and wrap up the year with you!
- 3rd Grade End-of-Year Party - Thursday, May 26 1:30 - 2:30pm
- Our 3rd grade room parents will be getting together soon to organize and plan for this party. Be on the lookout for a sign up genius or email from Luke's mom (Rebecca Tait) in the next week or so. This will be a fun, grade level party where the kids will be able to move from classroom to classroom participating in fun activities! So, we will need parent volunteers and supplies!
