- Math Superstars: This is 3rd grade's math weekly homework this year. It's also an excellent source for keeping up with those math skills. Awards and prizes are given out to those students that complete the worksheet each week and turn it in. Begins this Monday, October 1st and is only available to those students in which at least one parent is a PTA member. Please, become a PTA member by going to this PTA link.

What's Been Happening In Class?
- Writing: Personal Narrative Unit. We finished our final draft. These will be posted outside our classroom for you to see at fall parent teacher conferences. We also examined a mentor sentence and learned about Subject and Predicates.
- Reading: We learned some new reading comprehension strategies this week: Character Traits and Changes in Character within a story. We read The Most Magnificent Thing, Amazing Grace, and Each Kindness as we discovered and learned about characters this week.
- Math: Our current unit has covered: Place Value, Rounding, Addition and Subtraction (using a variety of strategies) The unit test for this will be combined with the past unit on graphing/charts. Homework for math: Please have your child use the "math links" from this website to review Place Value, Rounding, Charts & Graphs, and Addition & Subtraction. Upcoming Unit 1 & Unit 2 test (combined) is planned for next Thursday, October 4th.
- Science: Our next unit is Changes in Matter and Mixtures. This unit test will be on next Wednesday, October 3rd. Students can use the "Science Links" to help review for this test.
- Social Studies: Learning about our 3 branches of government (Judicial, Executive and Legislative) with a reading passage and questions.
- Eslot: Project Lead The Way activities - The 3 Little Pigs (design and building a strong house) and creating a paint brush with multiple purposes.
