Announcements:
  • New Classroom Mom for Mrs. Lilleboe's Class: We have a new room mom for our class, Heather Cox (Ivey's mom). We are super excited that she stepped up to help us (me, our students and parents) for the remaining weeks of the school year. I'm sure you'll be getting a couple emails from her in the coming weeks. Please, help us out when needed - look for Heather's emails soon.
  • Supplies Needed - HELP:  We are once again dangerously low on a couple of school supplies!!  If you can help us out by purchasing: glue sticks or Kleenex (tissues). We would really appreciate it!!
  • Run Wild For Wildlife Fundraiser: Envelopes went home yesterday in Thursday folders for the Run Wild for Wildlife Fundraiser. These envelopes are due back next Friday, April 20th.
  • Last Grading Period (4th quarter): Please, keep an eye on your child's grades and assignments. Typically, the last grading period is most difficult for students as they are so ready for summer!  Check Home Access with your child often (once or twice a week). The link to Home Access is on the Welcome Page.
  • Scholastic Book Orders: - The April Scholastic Book Orders are due Friday, April 27th. Flyers went home in Thursday folders.  Place your orders online - Your Class Activation Code NP79X.  The link to order is HERE.
  • STAAR Homework: As a third grade, we will begin STAAR homework next week. Each week the kids will be given one reading passage with questions and one math review worksheet. These are to be completed at home as "homework" and returned back to school by Friday (each week). There will be a "homework" grade given for completing the STAAR Homework, therefore it is important that your child complete the reading passage/question and math review worksheet each week. Homework is to be turned in each week by Friday.

What's Been Happening In Class?
  • Writing: This week our focus was on writing another personal narrative. We brainstormed ideas, chose one story idea, wrote a rough draft, revised/edited our draft and completed the final draft.
  • Reading:  This week we focused on 2 reading strategies when reading fiction: Summary (Somebody-Wanted-But-So-Then) and Character Feelings/Character Traits using text evidence from the story. Next week we start our fiction book clubs!!
  • Math: This unit will primarily focus on perimeter and capacity measurement (gallons, quarts, pints, cups, ounces).  Our focus this week was on capacity - fluid ounces, cups, pints, quarts, gallons, liters and milliliters.  We took our test today, so we'll start our next unit on Monday.
  • Science:  This unit is: Ecosystems, Environments and Food Chains. We took our test on Tuesday, so we've started our new unit on Plant and Animal Adaptations.
  • Social Studies:  How Benjamin Franklin helped our society and impacted our history and on how transportation has changed over time.
  • Enrichment: We were in our enrichment groups!
