- No More Spelling: We've decided to stop our Spelling practice to begin preparing more for STAAR.
- STAAR Homework: As a third grade, we will begin STAAR homework next week. Each week the kids will be given one reading passage with questions and one math review worksheet. These are to be completed at home as "homework" and returned back to school by Friday (each week). There will be a "homework" grade given for completing the STAAR Homework, therefore it is important that your child complete the reading passage/question and math review worksheet each week. Homework is to be turned in each week by Friday.

What's Been Happening In Class?
- Writing: This week our focus was on getting ready for the Revising/Editing DCA. We completed a few writing passages in our Blue Journey Workbooks as a class, with a partner and on our own for practice.
- Reading: This week we researched our PBL project on Habitat Loss. The kids have all chosen a region/area to focus on. We've been learning about our specific area and the habitat loss issues that are associated with that region. All notefacts were due today for a grade. We will begin using our notefacts next week as we create a way we want to present our information (Google presentation, poster board, tri-fold display board, tri-fold brochure).
- Math: This new unit will primarily focus on perimeter and capacity measurement (gallons, quarts, pints, cups, ounces). Our focus this week was on perimeter. Finding the perimeter of a polygon and also finding the missing side length of a polygon if the perimeter was given.
- Science: This unit is: Ecosystems, Environments and Food Chains. We spent time reviewing what are "nonliving and living things" and the basic needs for living things to survive. We also did a fun activity learning about the armadillo population and what effects can cause the armadillo population to increase or decrease.
- Social Studies:
- Enrichment: Field Trip to Westcave Preserve
