What's Been Happening In Class?
- Writing: This week our focus was on writing an expository essay (writing about a topic we know alot about) in the expository essay format (Introduction with topic sentence, body with 3 developed paragraphs, conclusion). We will revise and edit this piece next week and complete our final draft by next Thursday.
- Reading: Our next unit is Traditional Tales (folktales, fables, myths, legends). We practiced summary/retell reading strategies as we read a variety of folktales this week. We reviewed "theme" and how to figure out the "theme" or the "lesson learned" in a story too. Next week we will begin our next unit: Informational (nonfiction) Text and Research our PBL project.
- Math: We are now into our 2nd multiplication/division unit for the year. We have learned our 1's and 9's facts this week. We will continue next week with 3's and 6's. Our Geometry/Multiplication/Division unit DCA will be on February 23rd. Please, use my "Math links" on this website for additional support and review at home. A review packet will be going home next week.
- Science: We learned about the various weather tools (pictures below) as we prepared for our test today. Next unit is Space (sun, moon, earth rotations and solar system).
- Social Studies: This unit is Economics (financial literacy). We learned about Need vs Wants and Goods vs Services. We will continue with this unit for the next few weeks.
