What's Been Happening In Class?
- Writing: This week our focus was on grammar conventions (Contractions) and practicing our revising/editing skills. There will be a revising/editing skills DCA in a couple of weeks.
- Reading: Our next unit is Traditional Tales (folktales, fables, myths, legends). We practiced summary/retell reading strategies as we read a variety of folktales this week. We also learned about "theme" and how to figure out the "theme" or the "lesson learned" in a story too.
- Math: We are now into our 2nd multiplication/division unit for the year. We have learned our 1's and 9's facts this week. We will continue next week with 3's and 6's. Our Geometry/Multiplication/Division unit DCA will be sometime around February 23rd.
- Science: We started our weather unit this week. We tracked the weather of 2 Texas cities for 5 days, then drew some comparisons between the cities using our data. We also did a couple assignments on STEMscopes (weather mapping, interactive activity, reading science). Next week we will learn about the various weather tools as we prepare for our test next Friday.
- Social Studies: This unit is Economics (financial literacy). We learned about Need vs Wants and Goods vs Services. We will continue with this unit for the next few weeks.
- Enrichment: PBL Activity with Mrs. Raney's class and Ms. Potral's class.
