What's Been Happening In Class?
- Writing: This week our focus was on Adverbs and working on our final Biography Book Club presentations in Google Slides.
- Reading: We are deep into our Nonfiction Unit in Reading. We wrapped up our reading of our Biography Book Club books and began working on our presentations in Google Slides. We also took time out to practice our reading comprehension skills with a biography passage and questions called "Snowflake Bentley". Lastly, we had our Reading DCA Test today!
- Math: We started our next unit: Geometry. We've reviewed tons of vocabulary that was taught in second grade, but we must review in third grade before moving forward. These words were: polygon, two dimensional shapes, open vs closed shape, sides, vertices, triangle, quadrilateral, square, rectangle, rhombus, parallel, parallelogram, pentagon, hexagon, congruent, similar. We added to our math vocabulary this week week with trapezoid, equilateral triangle, isoceles triangle, scalene triangle and area. We'll continue with area next week.
- Science: We started our next unit: soils and natural resources. We continued to learn about erosion and weathering this week with a fun "Sugar Shake" activity and "Getting to Know Your Soil" video. Next week, we'll complete a Soil Shakes activity and begin learning about our natural resources.
- Social Studies: We continued to emphasize our Social Contract and use our Consequence Chart this week in an effort to grow our classroom atmosphere!
- Eslot: Hour of Code
