What's Been Happening In Class?
- Writing: Poetry! We are wrapping up our poetry unit this week. We wrote a couple more poems this week: Five Senses Poem and a Fall or Halloween Poem. The kids chose their favorite poem and typed it on the chrome books. I'll have these posted in my classroom or outside in the common area. Our next unit is Nonfiction/Expository writing. We'll be researching our assigned country (China) and creating a Google Drawing with a partner. Then, we'll start writing our expository essay.
- Reading: We are wrapping up Poetry. We will have our Fiction/Poetry DCA Test next week. Then, we will start on our next unit of Nonfiction. We'll learn the various nonfiction text features, how to find the main idea, write a summary, use context clues to understand new vocabulary and so much more!
- Math: We learning how to solve multiplication problems using a variety of strategies: Equal Groups, Arrays, Number line, Repeated Addition, Strip Diagrams, Skip Counting, Doubling numbers, and the Multiplication Sentence (equation).
- Science: We will be learning all about various forms of energy (sound, heat/thermal, light and mechanical). Our test is next week!
- Social Studies: Research our country for International Children's Week - China.
