- Homework - Your child has 2 bits of homework to do. On Monday, he/she should be bringing in a ziplock bag of stickers, photos, cut outs from magazines of things they love. On Tuesday, your child should be bringing in his/her All About Me Bag with 3 - 4 items with note cards describing how/why each item is important to them.
- Class Dojo - We will start a fun, interactive behavior communication program on August 27th. This is a program that I've done in my class for the last 3 years with tons of success. Parents check how they're child is doing during the day. Class Dojo provides parents and me (teacher) vital information on how our students are behaving/participating in class each day. You can use this information to help your child adjust behavior if needed for a better day or celebrate their awesome efforts! Class Dojo and our Social Contract help us to build a strong, loving community in our classroom. There is a FREE app that will work on most smart phones. I'll need to download this FREE app so that you can "check in" on how your child is doing at anytime of day and check messages from me. I send out messages by Class Dojo more often then by email. So its important to check everyday! Feel free to send me or your kiddo messages via Class Dojo style too! The invitation will be sent home in Thursday folders next week. It has the Parent and the Student log in codes to access Class Dojo. So be looking for it next week!
- Wobble Stools - Wobble stools are an alternative desk seating option for your child. Wobble stools help provide students with the ability to wiggle as they sit. They help some students to focus more on their work too. This is a parent purchased item. With that said, at the end of the year the wobble stool is yours. Your child can then use them in 4th and 5th grade. I would recommend the 18" stool. Here is a link of where to make this purchase if you are interested. Active Learning Stool - Amazon.com
- Headphones: Your child may still need headphones or earbuds for our classroom. These can be purchased at Target, Walmart, HEB, etc. The headphones/earbuds will be left here at school.
- Our Library Day: Our class's library day and time will be on Mondays at 9:45am. Kids got to check out books today! Yippee! These books are due back in 2 weeks. Please, be respectful of the books - no food or drinks, keep away from pets and younger siblings. Third graders are allowed to check out audiobooks (Play Aways). There is a form in the library that must be completed by the student's parents and returned.
- Photos - I'll be posting photos of the students on each Weekly Update. Please, let me know if you are not ok with me posting pictures of your child. Thank you.
