Announcements:
  • How to take care of a tie dye shirt? - Shirts came home today in a ziplock bag.  Let it sit over night or even 2 nights would be best. Then on Sunday, you rinse the shirt in the sink under cold water and squeeze out most of the excess dye. Carefully cut off the rubber bands with scissors (not to cut the t-shirt fabric). Continue to rinse the shirt in the sink until the water runs clear.  Then wash it alone in hot water in the washing machine. Lastly, air dry the shirt or dry it in the dryer (by itself).
  • New Student: Good news, we have a new student starting on Monday!  Her name is Varsha. Let's show her how awesome our class and Elsa England really is!!
  • Parent Conference Form: Your child's conference form is coming home on Monday. Please, take a moment to sign the "white" form and return it the next day. The "yellow" form is for you to keep.
  • Field Day: This Wednesday is Field Day. All third graders are wearing their tie dye shirts. It will be hot, so please dress your child in shorts as well. The PE coaches have strongly recommended socks and shoes for this event. Your child will also want to bring an extra pair of clothes (due to the water station - they will get very wet!) and a water bottle with his/her name on it. I also recommend that your child bring a lunch from home that day. There will only be 2 lunch cafeteria options for the kids: Choice 1 - Corn Dog or Choice 2 - Grill Cheese Sandwich. Of course, its always a good idea to bring a hat and sunglasses too!  If you want your child to wear sunscreen, you will need to apply it to your child BEFORE they come to school.
  • STAAR scores: These will be sent out over the summer via mail or by email.
  • Summer Reading Bingo: Summer is around the corner, and one of the best things you can do over the summer is to encourage your child to read for 20 minutes a day -- material of their choice!
