Announcements:
  • Movie Night – All Superheros are invited to wear your capes and costumes to the Free Family Movie Night showing The Incredibles on TONIGHT in the cafeteria.  Doors open at 6:00 pm and the movie begins at 6:30pm. This is a Family event and all children must be accompanied for the entire time by a parent or adult guardian. Volunteers are needed to help make it a fun night SIGN -UP HERE  
  • Gallery Night – (formerly Spotlight Night) is May 3rd 5:30 -7:30 pm.  Join us for a fun night celebrating the arts and more at England.  The night will include: Students art work on display. Artist demonstrations. Hands-on art activities. Book Fair Opens at 5:30. Silent Auction (to support PTA programs like Math Superstars and many more). Food Trucks – The Naughty Texan & Kona Ice trucks will be on site so come hungry (menu for Naughty Texan available on PTA website & Facebook page). England choir performance at 6:00 pm and your child's Classroom Open House (6:00 – 7:00pm).
  • Scholastic Book Orders: - The April Scholastic Book Orders are due TODAY. Flyers went home in Thursday folders.  Place your orders online - Your Class Activation Code NP79X.  The link to order is HERE.

​What's Been Happening In Class?  
  • Writing: This week our focus was on Earth Day!  We finished our Earth Day poems - final draft using the Chromebooks.
  • Reading:  This week we continued with our Book Club groups. A few book clubs finished their books today. The remaining groups will finish up next week!
  • Math: This unit will primarily focus on Multiplication (1 - digit by 2 - digit) using the associative properties strategy, doubling and halving strategy, area model strategy, partial products and the standard algorithm (cross multiplication). 
  • Science:   We wrapped up our science unit on plant and animal adaptations with a test today!
  • Social Studies:  Researched 8 inventors and their amazing inventions using the iPads.  
  • Enrichment: Last day with our enrichment groups. Next month we have something fun and different planned for each enrichment time.

Announcements:
  • Supplies Needed - HELP:  Thank you to Vivian's, Ethan's and Maria's parents for bringing in Kleenex and a few glue sticks, but we are still dangerously low on glue sticks and Kleenex (tissues). Please, consider purchasing one of these items for us. We would really appreciate it!!

Announcements:
  • New Classroom Mom for Mrs. Lilleboe's Class: We have a new room mom for our class, Heather Cox (Ivey's mom). We are super excited that she stepped up to help us (me, our students and parents) for the remaining weeks of the school year. I'm sure you'll be getting a couple emails from her in the coming weeks. Please, help us out when needed - look for Heather's emails soon.

  • Run Wild For Wildlife Fundraiser: Envelopes went home yesterday in Thursday folders for the Run Wild for Wildlife Fundraiser. These envelopes are due back next Friday, April 20th. 
  • Last Grading Period (4th quarter): Please, keep an eye on your child's grades and assignments. Typically, the last grading period is most difficult for students as they are so ready for summer!  Check Home Access with your child often (once or twice a week). There will be a "homework" grade given for completing the STAAR Homework, therefore it is important that your child complete the reading passage/question and math review worksheet each week. Homework is to be turned in each week by Friday.

​What's Been Happening In Class?  
  • Writing: This week our focus was on writing another personal narrative. We brainstormed ideas, chose one story idea, wrote a rough draft, revised/edited our draft and completed the final draft. 
  • Reading:  This week we focused on 2 reading strategies when reading fiction: Summary (Somebody-Wanted-But-So-Then) and Character Feelings/Character Traits using text evidence from the story. Next week we start our fiction book clubs!!  
  • Math: This unit will primarily focus on perimeter and capacity measurement (gallons, quarts, pints, cups, ounces).  Our focus this week was on capacity - fluid ounces, cups, pints, quarts, gallons, liters and milliliters.  We took our test today, so we'll start our next unit on Monday.
  • Science:  This unit is: Ecosystems, Environments and Food Chains. We took our test on Tuesday, so we've started our new unit on Plant and Animal Adaptations. 
  • Social Studies:  How Benjamin Franklin helped our society and impacted our history and on how transportation has changed over time. 
  • Enrichment: We were in our enrichment groups!

Announcements:
  • Last Grading Period (4th quarter): Please, keep an eye on your child's grades and assignments. Typically, the last grading period is most difficult for students as they are so ready for summer!  Check Home Access with your child often (once or twice a week). The link to Home Access is on the Welcome Page. 
  • ​No More Spelling:  We've decided to stop our Spelling practice to begin preparing more for STAAR.
  • STAAR Homework: As a third grade, we will begin STAAR homework next week. Each week the kids will be given one reading passage with questions and one math review worksheet. These are to be completed at home as "homework" and returned back to school by Friday (each week). There will be a "homework" grade given for completing the STAAR Homework, therefore it is important that your child complete the reading passage/question and math review worksheet each week.   • Writing: This week our focus was on learning about the difference between synonyms and antonyms, and prefixes and suffixes. We ended the week with a short quiz.  
  • Reading:  This week we wrapped up our PBL projects. If your child is not done with this project, please continue to work on it over the weekend. Ask your child or message me on Class Dojo. 
  • Math: This new unit will primarily focus on perimeter and capacity measurement (gallons, quarts, pints, cups, ounces).  Our focus this week was on reviewing Elapsed Time and Weight (ounces, pounds and tons).
  • Science:  This unit is: Ecosystems, Environments and Food Chains. Our focus this week has been on Food Chains and Food Webs. Our test on this unit is next Tuesday, April 10th.  
  • Social Studies:  How Benjamin Franklin helped our society and impacted our history 
  • Enrichment: We started our new enrichment groups today!! Ask your child which group they are in.
