  • Teachers will have our first "distance learning" staff meeting this upcoming Monday, so I will have more information soon as to how we will continue our at-home learning. I can tell you that we will be using Google Classroom (your student's gmail/Google account) for this distance learning soon. Therefore, I'd like to start by having every student in our classroom log into his/her gmail/Google account.

Today's Assignment: Good News in Google Classroom using Padlet! - Parents feel free to assist your child in today's assignment, but we've used Google Classroom numerous times this year so your child should be familiar with how to access it. The only new activity is using Padlet. Let me know if you have any questions.

  • Password (the one they use to log into our school chrome books)

  • Next, go to your Google Classroom icon (green/yellow square)
  • Click on "Mrs. Lilleboe's Reading/Writing"
  • Here you will see a new announcement called "Good News" - Read the directions and complete!
    • This activity will be done on Padlet (a Classroom Wall with post it notes).
  • Message me on Class Dojo or Comment in Google Classroom if you have questions.
  • Visitors (parents) can access the Padlet with the Password "super trooper".
  • I look forward to seeing all your "post it notes" on our Classroom Wall soon!!

Important Announcements:
  • No School: March 23 - April 5.  Stay informed by checking RRISD website
  • Feel free to continue to use the resources I sent out in last week's Special Weekly Update.
  • Round Rock ISD has sent out an email last night, Sunday, March 22nd about Home Learning for the next 2 weeks. Below is the email and links if you missed it. Please, feel free to message me via Class Dojo. Your child is welcome to post pictures, messages and videos via Class Dojo too!
Dear Round Rock ISD families,
We are pleased to announce that Round Rock ISD has launched the Home Learning Hub for at-home learning during the school closure.
You can access the Hub from our District’s website and from this direct link:
https://sites.google.com/roundrockisd.org/athomelearning/home
This is a challenging time for everyone, but we hope that by providing learning activities for students to participate in from home we can help bring normalcy and routine and give students and parents resources to maintain educational progress.
Round Rock ISD’s Home Learning Hub includes grade-level resources anchored in our  Aligned Round Rock Curriculum (ARRC) which is the foundation for all teaching and learning in the District. These resources were designed with choice and flexibility in mind and to keep students actively engaged in grade level content. Students are encouraged to engage with core content activities daily.
These resources are intended to provide optional enrichment during the cancellation of classes scheduled from March 23 - April 3. We are also providing take-home packets at our curbside breakfast and lunch distribution sites for students who have limited access to devices or the Internet.
Please continue to check Round Rock ISD’s Coronavirus web page for updates:
https://roundrockisd.org/coronavirus/
As always, our primary focus is the health and safety of our students, staff and community, but we encourage students and families to take advantage of this resource to keep students’ minds active and engaged during this unprecedented time. If you have  questions related to the school closure please email them to school_closures@roundrockisd.org.
Respectfully,
Mandy Estes
Chief of Teaching and Learning
Steve Flores, Ph.D.
Superintendent of Schools

Shout Outs for the week:
  • Shout out to Cole's parents for purchasing more glue sticks for us this week! :)

Important Announcement:
  • From Ms. Stowe: Please continue to monitor the updates posted from the district on this webpage. You can refer to the guidelines that the district has already published for students and staff to follow. Any changes to the district schedules or guidelines will be posted for the community through the district website and also emailed to parents through the district news feed. District news is sent automatically to the parent email address on file. If you have specific questions about attendance, please contact our registrar, Monica Gonzalez .

Friendly Reminders:
  • Spring Break (NO school): March 14 - March 22
  • Field Trip to Westcave Preserve: March 30
  • New Splash Math Class Code for March:  ZUJCDN
  • STAAR Testing: This year your child will be taking the Reading and Math STAAR tests (May 12th and 13th).  Please, do not have your child "practice" the online STAAR tests at home. This puts additional stress and anxiety on your child. Let's remember, your child is 8 or 9 years old. This is the first year of STAAR tests. Your child already feels the stress and pressure to do well. The best things you can do at home to help prepare your child are:
    • Math Practice: use Prodigy, Khan Academy, Splash Math (Splash Learn), Xtramath, and Mrs. Lilleboe's Math links on this website.
    • Reading Practice: continue to have your child read every night (document in yellow folder on the reading log sheet) and use the Mrs. Lilleboe's Reading Links.
    • Go over assignments that come home in Thursday folders. If your child misses a question, work together to get the answer correct. :)
