Weekly Update #24: February 20 - February 24

Thank you parents! Thank you for providing us with more tissue/Kleenex boxes. We greatly appreciate it. Also, thank you for donating items for our Valentine's Day party. We couldn't do it with out you! Lastly, thank you to Mrs. Hernandez and Mrs. Cashman for coming on our field trip last Friday!
Scholastic Book Orders: February orders are due by Tuesday, February 28th. Please, consider buying your child a book or a next year's 2017 Bluebonnet book. Some of the books that are offered on Scholastic are: Lola Lavine Drama Queen (ONLY $4.00), Towers Falling ($12.00), The Key to Extraordinary (ONLY $5.00), The Last Kids on Earth (ONLY $5.00), The Princess and The Warrior ($12.00), Maybe a Fox (ONLY $5.00), The Great Shelby Holmes (ONLY $4.00), Some Kind of Courage ($5.00) and Soar ($16.00). So many books are offered!!! Student book orders give us class points to go and buy these books for our classroom library. Home Access Updated: Please, check this regularly to stay on top of your kiddos performance in class. I will forewarn you that second semester can be more challenging as we prepare these kiddos for STAAR and 4th grade. Expectations on graded work will increase. Home Access Link
STAAR tests (early-May): They are just around the corner. Want to help prepare your child at home? Suggestions for math: Xtramath, timed quizzes, ixl.com, and Think Through Math are excellent online resources your child has access to. The links to these sites can be found under the "Math Links" tab. Suggestions for reading: reading comprehension passages with questions. Check out the "Reading Links" tab for tons of great online resources.

Field Trip: Our field trip day is this upcoming Friday, February 24. The kids will need to wear their Planet Protector t-shirt, pants, and tennis shoes (athletic type shoe). Please, remember to pack a sack lunch (unless you indicated on the blue form to purchase a sack lunch from cafeteria), water bottle and snacks. We will leave around 9:00am and return to the school around 2:00pm. Our two chaperones for our class are: Lori Cashman and Barbara Hernandez.

Valentines Day Party: The party will be held in the 3rd grade common area on Tuesday, February 14 from 1:30pm-2:30pm. Please send in supply donations no later than this Monday, February 13th. You can sign-up to help provide items or volunteer at the party here: Valentine's Day Party Sign-Up As always, if it's easier to donate money and have Mrs. Hamrick shop, she is happy to do so! Valentine Boxes and Valentine cards: Decorate a card board box (shoe box, cereal box, etc) and bring in Valentine cards or gifts for ALL of our class members on February 14th.
