Friendly Reminders:
  • Shout Outs For The Week:
    • The kids did a great job with the STAAR practice test. I will let you know when scores will be sent home so you can see how your child did...and what areas does your child need to work on to help prepare for the "real" STAAR in May.
  • New Splash Math Class Code for January:  ZUJCDN
  • Science DCA Test: Weathering - February 5
  • Math DCA Test: Addition and Subtraction of larger numbers (4 digits) and Data/Graphs/Charts - Tentative date February 5
  • Valentine's Day Cards and Decorated Box: Bring to school on February 14
    • Flyer about creating a Valentine Card Mailbox and Valentine Cards for classmates went home today. Please, bring the Valentine's Mailbox and Cards/Treats to school on Valentine's Day!!
  • Valentine's Day Party - Sign Up to bring in some supplies or volunteer at the party!  It's parents like you that make these parties fun for kids as these parties are completely run by our parents. Sign Up
  • Economics Fair Project Items Due: March 10th
  • Economics Fair: March 11th
  • STAAR Testing: This year your child will be taking the Reading and Math STAAR tests (May 12th and 13th).  Please, do not have your child "practice" the online STAAR tests at home. This puts additional stress and anxiety on your child. Let's remember, your child is 8 or 9 years old. This is the first year of STAAR tests. Your child already feels the stress and pressure to do well. The best things you can do at home to prepare are:
    • Math Practice: use Prodigy, Khan Academy, Xtramath, Splash Math and Mrs. Lilleboe's Math links.
    • Reading Practice: continue to have your child read every night (document in yellow folder on the reading log sheet) and use the Mrs. Lilleboe's Reading Links.
    • Go over assignments that come home in Thursday folders. If your child misses a question, work together to get the answer correct. :)
